Judge For Yourself With New Interactive Tool

Judge For YourselfJudge For Yourself is innovative on-line programme in which members of the public can decide what they think is the most suitable sentence for virtual offenders.

The interactive tool allows people to experience the work of probation first hand. Based on examples of real cases, people can ask for more information on each offender, get advice from the probation officer involved and select the sentence they think is appropriate. If this is a community sentence, you can choose from the 12 requirements available to create a package for the offenders to rehabilitate as well as punish.

Protecting The Public

The National Probation Service, Sussex aims to protect the public, reduce re-offending, ensure the proper punishment of offenders and support victims.

We work with people who have committed different types of offences such as burglary, violence, car crime and sex offences.

Preventing re-offending

We provide probation supervision, offending behaviour programmes and specialist support services, which aim to stop people committing further offences.

We work to:

  • Safely supervise people serving their sentence in the community
  • Ensure people complete their community sentences and take them back to court if they don't
  • Prevent people from committing more crimes
  • Prepare prisoners for release
  • Supervise prisoners who are released into the community on licence
  • Liaise with victims of serious crime.

So you think probation supervision is a soft option?
